When Life Gives You Lemons
Let's face it; sometimes, life is just hard. Work can be stressful. Unexpected injury and chronic illness are always challenging. The people around us may be hard to live with or work with. Money worries may become overwhelming. Sometimes, the modern conveniences that we rely on just quit working. And, why does it seem like we have so much to do and not enough time to do it?
Then, there are those big things, like changing jobs or retiring from a lifetime of work, or moving to a new home or even a new community, or losing a loved one through death or divorce.
Change of any kind is harder than we like to admit.
Conventional wisdom says "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!" It would be so convenient to magically take all the negatives that life throws our way and turn them into something good. But that is often easier said than done.
This year, it seems like my family (and extended family) has had more than our fair share of the hard stuff. We are tired. But I've found hope in this verse from 1 Peter 5:7. "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." We all need to be reminded sometimes that God loves us and promises to be with us in our struggles. He doesn't always remove the hard things, but he cares deeply when we are suffering. I've found that hard things are much easier with God than without him. When we turn to him, he will help us get through our darkest times simply because he loves us.

Cast all your cares on Him, Your worries and your fears,
Your troubles and your tears;
Just give it all to Him.
He cares for you.
Oh,
how He cares for you.
The Father sent His Son, His own beloved one,
To ransom you from death. He cares for you.
Christ, and Christ alone,
can take away your sin
And make you clean
within. He cares for you.
The Spirit shows you Life. He
will comfort you in strife
And point the way to Christ. He cares for you.
Oh, Lord, our God, we sing
Your praise.
Oh, let us
serve You all our days.
Come praise our Lord above,
and offer all your love
To Him Who
loves you so. Just give it all to Him.
He cares for
you.
