"Grandma, whatcha doing?" "We'll be singing, singing songs..." |
Janet K Bauer is a former preschool
and kindergarten teacher, teaching in both Christian and public schools for
more than 20 years. In addition, she has taught art and music in several rural schools, worked as an elementary substitute teacher, and homeschooled her son for two years. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree
in Elementary Education from Concordia Teachers College (now Concordia
University) in Seward, Nebraska, as well as an endorsement in Inclusive
Early Childhood Education from the University of Nebraska in Kearney.
Janet loves to play bass guitar and
sing on the worship team, and assist with children’s and women’s ministries at
her church. Janet also writes a blog, plays her guitar nearly every day, composes Christian music, works
in her yard, and takes long daily walks. When she has time, she dabbles in art and photography.
Janet and her husband, Bill, have lived in Lincoln, Nebraska and Traverse City, Michigan, before settling in Gering, in the
Nebraska panhandle. They were foster parents for ten years, ultimately adopting
two of the children they fostered. They have three grown daughters, three
sons-in-law, and one son, as well as eight grandchildren, who sometimes provide the
inspiration for Janet's books.

Are you a teacher, parent, coach, paraprofessional, school custodian, or lunch worker? Do you teach piano lessons, martial arts or dance classes? Are you a day care worker, Sunday School teacher, or youth leader? Just one interested, compassionate adult can have a huge impact on a child’s self-esteem and general well-being. You could be that person!
Written from a Christian
perspective, and filled with practical suggestions and interwoven, Real Life
stories, this handbook is an excellent resource for anyone who lives or works

Twinkle, twinkle, little star…
From the tiniest lights in the old children’s rhyme, to the greatest Light of them all, this book explores all of the lights God has given us, ultimately comparing an eclipse to Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Kids of all ages (and their adults) will love the gorgeous illustrations and engaging text in this book.

"An old Nebraska hotel was a magical place to grow up, with creaky staircases and secret passages, expansive party rooms and a huge, mysterious basement where we played for hours and, of course, we met so many interesting people! We were just kids, but hotel living was our everyday reality."
At the time, in the mid-twentieth century, my brother and sister and I didn't realize that our unique experiences would have such a lasting impact on our lives. Now, we look back and realize just what a treasure we had when we were growing up in those old Nebraska hotels.

MORE FROM MY FAMILY
My granddaughter, Evelyn's, first book is an adventure story written for children from 7-11 years old, and enjoyed by all ages.
Evie and Lydia can't wait to escape from cruel Aunt Marge and the cold, dreary castle. Swimming across an icy moat, meeting up with a crazy hobo, and running through an elephant stampede are not what they expected on a easy journey. Will they ever be able to find their grandma?

My daughter, Erin, wrote this intriguing book.
A combination of button accordion and bajo sexto, conjunto originated in the Texas-Mexico borderlands as a popular dance music and became a powerful form of regional identity. Today, listeners and musicians around the world have embraced the genre and the work of conjunto masters like Flaco Jiménez and Mingo Saldívar.
A rare look at a fascinating musical phenomenon, Flaco’s Legacy reveals how conjunto came to encompass new people, places, and styles.
